FAQS
HOW MANY BOOKS
MAY I CHECK OUT?
  • K-1st grade students may check out 1 book weekly.

  • 2nd-3rd grade students may check out 2 books weekly.

  • 4th-5th grade students may check out 3 books weekly.

You must return books in order to check out new ones.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO BRING MY BOOKS BACK?

The check out period for books is two weeks. At the end of the two weeks, you must return books or renew them.

Bring books back when you finish them, so you always have something new to read and enjoy! If you don't want to wait until your library day, come during a FLEX time.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE OR DAMAGE A BOOK?

When you check out a book from the library, it is your responsibility to take good care of it, so others can enjoy the book once you return it. If you lose or damage a book, you are responsible for paying for it with exact change or through School Cash Online. Talk with the librarian to see how much you owe.

You will not be allowed to check out new books until you have paid your fines.

WHAT IF I CAN'T FIND
THE BOOK I WANT?

If the library doesn't have the book you are looking for, you have several options:

  1. You can ask the librarian to place the book on hold for you. This means, when the book is returned, the librarian will save it for you, so that you can check it out.

  2. You can ask the librarian if she can borrow the book from a different school library. This is called interlibrary loan.

  3. You can ask the librarian to buy the book for the library. Keep in mind that the librarian only orders books a few times during the whole year, and she cannot buy every book that is requested.

  4. You can see if the public library has the book you want and check it out there. The closest public library to our school is Pleasant Hill.
