Miss Kite grew up in Plano, Texas with her two younger sisters, Lindsey and Emily. She loved playing soccer, tennis, and her cello. An avid reader, she always had her nose in a book. After she graduated from high school, Miss Kite chose to go to the UT to pursue her teaching degree. As a part of her teaching program, she student taught second grade at Cowan Elementary.
In 2010, Miss Kite acquired her professional T.E.F.L. certificate and moved to Almeria, Spain to teach English. She developed a deep-set empathy and understanding of people learning a new language, as she herself also was also learning a new language. In addition to learning Spanish, Miss Kite traveled around Europe and ate too many tapas!
While she loved Spain, Austin was where her heart was, so Miss Kite returned and became a kindergarten teacher at Baranoff Elementary. After three wonderful years, she looped up with her class to first grade, which she taught for two years. During this time, she went back to school to earn her M.L.I.S. degree from UNT. She has been the librarian at Pleasant Hill since 2017 and couldn't be happier. She was honored to receive Librarian of the Year in 2020. Outside of school, you may see Miss Kite enjoying the great outdoors with her dogs Theo and Caper or expending creative energy through writing and crafting; but at school, you will probably still find her with a nose in a book.
